STATE POLICE AT ROCKVIEW

State police are investigating a case of theft that occurred sometime during the last week of November, along East Presqueisle Street in the Philipsburg Borough.

According to police, two antique “ice cream benches,’ each valued at $750, were taken from East Presqueisle.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the case to contact PSP at Rockview.

State police responded to a report of theft from the Dollar General store around 7 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2024, along East Sycamore Road in Snow Shoe Township.

According to police, about $91.25 worth of merchandise was stolen from the store and a 50-year-old Blanchard woman was subsequently arrested.

State police responded to a report of a fight around 2 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2024, along Union Street in the Unionville Borough. According to police, a 25-year-old Julian man and a 22-year-old Port Matilda man were both cited for the incident.

State police responded to a single-vehicle crash around 6 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2024, along East College Avenue in Walker Township.

According to police, a 74-year-old Bellefonte woman was driving a 2009 Saturn Vue when she drifted off the side of the side of the road for unknown reasons and hit a guide rail.

The Bellefonte woman is suspected to have minor injuries while her passenger was uninjured.

State police responded to a crash just before midnight on Dec. 26, 2024, along Interstate 80 in Rush Township.

According to police, a 43-year-old Columbus, Ohio, man was driving a 2017 Hyundai when he lost control of the vehicle and stopped and exited the vehicle in the right lane of traffic without the use of hazard lights or warning devices and did not contact emergency services. A 43-year-old Rosewell, Georgia, man was driving a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia in the right line when he came upon the 2017 Hyundai while negotiating a curve but was unable to switch lanes in time and hit the 2017 Hyundai causing it to spin out.

Police did not report any injuries in the crash.

State police responded to reports of a theft around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, along North Richard Street in Rush Township.

According to police, two road signs that read “No Parking on This Side” were stolen during a snowstorm.

The street signs are valued at $200, and police ask anyone with information regarding the case to contact PSP at Rockview.

State police responded to a crash around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, along Interstate 99 in Worth Township.

According to police, a 19-year-old East Freedom man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 when he hit the back of a 2019 Volvo XC90 driven by a 46-year-old Altoona woman while on the interstate.

Police did not report any injuries, but the 19-year-old East Freedom man was cited for the crash.

State police responded to a crash around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, along Interstate 80 in Marion Township.

According to police, a 34-year-old Redmond, Washington, man was driving a 2019 Ford Expedition with five passengers in the left lane of the interstate while using the left lane to attempt to pass a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 29-year-old Fairfield, Ohio, man. While passing, the 34-year-old Redmond, Washington, man lost control of the vehicle and traveled across both lanes of traffic causing the 29-year-old Fairfield, Ohio, man to also lose control in an attempt to avoid collision with the 2019 Ford Expedition.

Both vehicles left the road and hit embankments before continuing to travel until the vehicles came to a final rest after hitting trees.

Police reported suspected minor injuries and the 34-year-old Redmond, Washington man was cited for the crash.

State police responded to a single-vehicle crash around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, along Penns Valley Pike in Potter Township.

According to police, a 36-year-old Spring Mills woman was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue at a “high rate of speed” when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and left the roadway, running into a cattle fence. After hitting the cattle fence, the vehicle continued through the field before becoming airborne where it continued about another 120 feet through the air before hitting ground and rolling over an undetermined amount of times.

While the Nissan Rogue was overturning, the 36-year-old Spring Mills woman was ejected and thrown through a window before the vehicle came to a final rest.

Police said the 36-year-old Spring Mills woman was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries from the crash. She was transported to the hospital by helicopter from the scene of the crash. She later died from her injuries.
