STATE POLICE AT ROCKVIEW
State police were involved in a high-speed chase on March 26 involving a 16-year-old male.
Authorities said the boy took his family’s Ford Escape without permission from their home in Phoenix, Maryland, to go see his girlfriend in northwestern Pennsylvania. During a traffic stop on Interstate 99, the juvenile fled the scene in the Escape.
During pursuit, he crashed the Escape into a creek along Reese Hollow Road. No injuries were reported, but he was transported to UPMC Altoona for evaluation.
Charges are pending in the 2:14 a.m. incident.

A Blanchard man was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on March 18. According to police, they pulled over a 2002 Honda Civic at the intersection of North Eagle Valley Road and Walnut Street in Howard Township and the driver, Tristin Florry, 22, was allegedly DUI and in possession of drug paraphernalia. The traffic stop took place at 12:48 a.m.

State police investigated a case of alleged driving under the influence that took place along Interstate 80 on April 2. According to authorities, a 24-year-old Flemington man was driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending toxicology results, police said.

State police investigated a case involving a stolen vehicle on April 3. According to authorities, a juvenile from Howard allegedly took his grandmother’s 2014 Toyota Sienna without her permission from a private residence along Leathers Camp Road in Boggs Township.
The vehicle and suspect were ultimately located. The incident took place at 12:30 a.m.

A one-vehicle crash was investigated by state police on April 1. According to authorities, Hannah Confer, 23, of Milesburg, was traveling along South Eagle Valley Road when she lost control of her 2020 Hyundai Tucson. It traveled across the eastbound lane of travel and struck an embankment and then a concrete culvert.
The Tucson was disabled as a result of the crash and had to be towed by Halfmoon Towing. The crash took place at 7:17 a.m.

A case of driving under the influence was investigated by state police on March 15. According to authorities, Saige Simon, 27, of Bellefonte, was pulled over in his 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. Simon was found to allegedly be under the influence and in possession of alleged illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
The traffic stop was initiated at 11:38 p.m., police said.

State police were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash that took place along Blue Ball Road in Gregg Township on March 28.
According to police, Carter Murray, 19, of Bellefonte, was traveling on the gravel road when he lost control of his 2015 Toyota Tacoma. It left the roadway and struck a tree. The Tacoma sustained disabling damage in the 9:55 p.m. crash. Murray was not hurt in the crash.

State police arrested a man for violating a protection-from-abuse order on March 29. According to authorities, Nathan Walk, 30, of Port Matilda, allegedly violated a PFA along South Prospect Street in Port Matilda Borough. The violation was reported at 10 a.m., police said.

A case of alleged theft by was investigated by state police on March 6. According to authorities, Reagan Smith, 22, of Edgewater, Maryland, purchased concert tickets on Facebook Marketplace. Smith later discovered the tickets were fake. Smith was scammed out of $350.

State police were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on March 27. According to police, Brian Shepard, 49, of Julian, was traveling along the Julian Pike when he lost control of his 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. It struck the guiderail and left the roadway.
The truck caught fire and was a total loss in the 4:49 p.m. crash. The driver was charged with alleged DUI and other traffic-related violations pending blood-alcohol results.

State police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run crash that took place along Interstate 80 westbound at 5:53 p.m. March 29.
According to police, a 2022 Freightliner driven by Joseph Stock, 58, of Akron, Ohio, was traveling in the left lane when it struck the rear of a 2022 Navistar International and then continued along the roadway. Stock was then stopped by state police. The driver of the other vehicle, Michael Daigle, 42, of Middleburg, Florida, was unhurt in the crash.
Police said that charges will be filed against Stock for careless driving. Damage to both vehicles was minor.
STATE POLICE AT LAMAR
State police say a Spring Mills woman was killed in a UTV rollover crash in Clinton County. According to authorities, the crash occurred around 4 a.m. on April 1 along Stewart Hill Road in Leidy Township.
Police said the two-seat UTV was traveling southbound when it reportedly left the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities said the vehicle continued down an embankment, struck another tree and overturned.
According to the crash report, the driver, a 38-year-old Spring Mills man, and one of the passengers, a 42-year-old Mill Hall man, were both ejected from the vehicle and were transported from the scene with suspected major injuries.
Police say a second passenger, identified as 38-year-old Rachel Gaddis, was partially ejected from the vehicle and became pinned by the roll cage. Investigators noted that Gaddis was not seated inside the UTV as she was reportedly “straddling” the center console.
According to the report, Gaddis suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
