Penn State University announced on June 27 that Kristen Simpson was named the new head women’s golf coach at the university.
Simpson has 12 years as a Division I golf coach and is an LPGA Teaching Class A member and a TPI Golf 2 Certified coach.
She will come to Penn State from Wisconsin, where she worked as an assistant since 2021. Prior to that she coached at North Carolina, Maryland and Old Dominion.
“I am thrilled and honored to be named the head women’s golf coach at Penn State,” Simpson said. “I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation coach (Denise) St. Pierre built. I know there are some great young women in the program with outstanding accomplishments, and I am eager to start working with them and help them continue to improve and build on the Penn State women’s golf legacy. I can’t wait to get to Happy Valley and join the Penn State family.”
Simpson played in college at the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in economics in 2008. She played professionally on the LPGA Futures Tour and the SunCoast Tour from 2009 to 2011.
The Penn State Women’s team will begin play in the 2023 season in September.
