PV’s Culver nets hat trick in rout of Tyrone

Senior attacker Aiden Culver scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Penns Valley boys soccer team to a 13-0 rout at Tyrone last Thursday.

Penns Valley’s Nate Long had two goals and two assists. Andrew Boeckel and Hayden Houser booted in two goals. Danny Gray scored a goal and assisted on four others. Alex King had a goal and two assists. Jack O’Donald had a goal and an assist.

Aidan Korman also recorded a goal.

Goalkeeper Gavin Robb got the shutout win for the Rams, who outshot the Golden Eagles, 19-2.

“I told the guys that our seven goals in the first 10 minutes of the half was one of the greatest ‘furious goal scoring festivals’ I’ve ever seen in my coaching career,” coach Ken Gore said. “They just flawlessly executed the fundamentals of passing, positioning, and finishing that we’ve been working on since the start of preseason.”

The Rams were scheduled to play Bellefonte on Monday, but no results were available. They were to host Bald Eagle Area on Wednesday and visit Mount Union on Thursday.

BEA GIRLS 2, P-O GIRLS 1

The Bald Eagle Area girls’ soccer team edged Philipsburg-Osceola, 2-1, last Wednesday.

Falen McHenry scored both goals for BEA. Abby Hoover assisted on one of the goals. Schenley Farrell scored for P-O on an assist from Chloe Matson.

“What a gritty performance tonight,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “We didn’t have our best stuff in the first half, but the girls dug in deep and made the changes in the second half to pull out the W.

“It took a total team effort and that shows character. Great work from Falen tonight, netting a brace. The game winner was a beautiful ball from Abby Hoover to set it up.”

P-O lost to Clearfield, 10-2, last Tuesday. Farrell and Matson scored P-O’s goals.

BEA was scheduled to play at home against Clearfield on Tuesday and against Penns Valley on Thursday. P-O was scheduled to play at Tyrone on Tuesday and host Huntingdon on Thursday.

STATE COLLEGE BOYS

The State College boys’ team beat Carlisle, 3-0, on Monday and tied Chambersburg, 1-1, on Thursday. No other information was available. The Little Lions were set to host Cumberland Valley on Thursday.

STATE COLLEGE GIRLS

The State College girls’ team was shut out by Montoursville, 5-0, on Thursday and by Carlisle, 3-0, on Monday.

The Lady Little Lions were set to play at Altoona on Wednesday and Cumberland Valley Thursday.

BELLEFONTE BOYS

The Bellefonte boys’ soccer team beat Bald Eagle Area, 3-1, last Tuesday. No details were available.

The Raiders were scheduled to play at Penns Valley Monday and at home against Hollidaysburg on Wednesday.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA BOYS

The Philipsburg-Osceola boys’ soccer team beat Bald Eagle Area, 3-2, last Thursday.

No goal scoring information was available.

P-O played Tyrone on Monday and was to host Huntingdon on Wednesday before visiting St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy on Thursday.

ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY BOYS

The St. Joseph Catholic Academy boys’ team lost Juniata Christian, 2-1, on Thursday and Greenwood, 5-1, on Thursday.
