Centre County Gazette

MILLHEIM — The state Dept. of Transportation recently announced that a highway resurfacing project on a section of Route 45 in Centre County began on Tuesday, May 26. This will improve the safety and ride quality of the roadway.

On Tuesday, the contractor will begin milling operations of Route 45 between Route 2012/Penn’s Cave Road in Gregg Township and South Street in Millheim Borough. Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the entire work zone and are advised to obey the posted speed limit.

Overall work on this project includes milling, paving, line painting, shoulder work, and installation of guide rail and rumble strips.

This project is part of a group contract that also includes resurfacing Route 550 and Route 1008/Howard Street in Bellefonte, where work will be announced at a later date. Glenn O. Hawbaker is the contractor on the $2.2 million project. PennDOT expects all work to be completed in August.
