PINE GROVE MILLS — Laurelyn Dossett and Bet Williams are celebrating the release of new albums this year — and the revival of a decades-long friendship that began as college roommates at Penn State in the 1980s.
Between classes and late-night rehearsals, they each carved out their own musical paths in the college club scene, Bet with the folk-rock trio, Bookends, and Laurelyn with the jazz ensemble, Baljennie. Though music often filled their shared living room, they never formally performed together — until now.

The two artists will perform their own songs, adding their voices and instruments to each other’s for an evening of new works, shared history, and harmonies.
After graduating from Penn State, the former college roommates followed very different paths. Dossett returned to her Southern roots in North Carolina, raising a family while building an acclaimed career writing and producing music theater pieces, performing on the Americana scene, and contributing songs to Grammy Award–winning recordings. Williams took to the road, performing at festivals and venues across the United States before touring extensively throughout Europe. Recently returned stateside, she continues to captivate audiences with her signature blend of folk, rock, and storytelling.
Now, after decades apart, Dossett and Williams share the stage again — bringing new songs, shared history, and harmonies at a special concert at Pine Grove Hall on Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. For tickets go to www.pinegrovehall.com or call 814-954-5419.
