BOALSBURG — Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy senior Evan Roach will be headed to Cisco College in Cisco, Texas, this fall to begin his college baseball career. A smiling Roach signed his official letter of intent in front of his WolfPack teammates, Saint Joseph’s students and faculty, and family and friends on May 18 at the SJCA Athletics Award Ceremony.

Roach is the WolfPack’s starting pitcher. His current season ERA is 1.24, with 53 strikeouts over 22.2 innings pitched. This season he also excelled at the plate, with a batting average of 0.340, 14 RBIs and one homerun. During the 2021 season, Roach became the first WolfPack pitcher to throw a no-hitter.

“The day Evan came to Saint Joe’s, the program became stronger,” said SJCA head baseball coach Ryan Hendrick. “Evan’s dominance on the mound immediately put our team in a position to compete against any team at any level. His leadership and skills helped other players develop, allowing us to be stronger as a team.”

“I chose Cisco College because it is one of the top junior colleges in the country and they have an excellent track record of placing kids in excellent four-year programs,” said Roach.

Cisco College is well-known for its outstanding baseball program.

The SJCA WolfPack finished the regular baseball season 11-5. The team is working through the District VI Class A playoff bracket with the goal of reaching and winning the District VI championship game at PNG Field in Altoona next week.
