Gazette staff report
STATE COLLEGE — Barash Media, the parent company of The Centre County Gazette and Town&Gown magazine, is pleased to announce that Tiara Snare has been promoted to the position of general manager.
“I am excited to fill my new role as the general manager of Barash Media,” said Snare. “I truly appreciate this opportunity and am very thankful the president of the company, Mike Donnelly, has the confidence in me to help maintain and grow the business.”
Snare joined the Barash team in 2013 as the advertising coordinator and graphic designer for Town&Gown, where she said she found “tremendous joy” in getting to know the publication’s clients and helping them with advertising their businesses.
Two years later, she assumed the role of creative director, which allowed her to incorporate her talents more through editorial design.
“Within the first month, I successfully transformed our publications into a new modern look that received a tremendous amount of recognition from our readers,” Snare said. “Although I have a passion for design, I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
The Centre County Gazette is a weekly newspaper lending a voice to the people of Centre County. More than 8,000 copies are distributed each Thursday at more than 400 retail outlets throughout the county.
Town&Gown is produced monthly and helps create a tie between the Centre County community and Penn State University. The free publication is distributed at more than 400 locations in Happy Valley. T&G also produces several special publications annually, including the popular Penn State Football Annual.
“I’m pleased to see Tiara take the helm as general manager,” said T&G editor Tracey Dooms. “For years she has advanced the look of Town&Gown as creative director and I look forward to working with her as we plan for the publication’s successful future.”
G. Kerry Webster, editor in chief at CCG, echoed Dooms’ comments.
“The look of the newspaper and its contents are important to help tell the ever-evolving stories of Centre County and of the wonderful people who reside here,” he said. “Our staff is looking forward to using Tiara’s many talents to continue to build The Gazette as the voice of Centre County.”
The Centre County Gazette and Town&Gown, and their supplemental publications, are printed by Indiana Printing and Publishing in Indiana, Pa.
“Tiara has done a terrific job throughout her time at Barash Media. Her responsibilities have grown along with her success here,” said Donnelly. “Becoming the general manager of Barash Media was the next logical step in her growth with the company. She is more than ready for the challenge.”
Snare will work closely with both teams to ensure that their readers and family of advertisers get the most out of each publication.
“I find joy in working with the newspaper and magazine and how they serve our community and the people in it. The amount of knowledge I have gained through the stories we share with our readers is endless,” she said. “Our team has blossomed here over the years and I am truly proud to say I work among some of the best people within this business. The talent here is admirable and it shows through our weekly paper and publications.”
She said positive words and acceptance from the Centre County community have always been Barash Media’s top support system.
“I look forward to watching our publications flourish and helping inform our readers of the people, places and things around Centre County,” she said.
Snare reminds residents of Centre County and beyond that providing feedback is the best way to help both publications give their readers the stories they want to read.
“Please feel free to reach out about future story ideas, upcoming local activities, new businesses or showcasing local residents,” she said. “The more input we receive, the better we can be in providing you with a strong publication and weekly newspaper.”
