South Hills students win at FBLA National Leadership Conference

STATE COLLEGE — Students from South Hills School of Business & Technology won top prizes at Future Business Leaders of America, Inc.’s National Leadership Conference. The event, held in Las Vegas, Nev., from June 6 to June 8, attracted college students, educators, and volunteers from across the country. The NLC provides education, competition, and networking opportunities centered on business.

More than 1,300 attendees from nearly 200 colleges and universities in 29 U.S. states and territories competed in 42 business-related events for scholarships and cash prizes totaling nearly $60,000.

This year the following local students participated in the FBLA National events:

  • Emily Boyd – 2nd Place, Foundations of Hospitality Management
  • Nora May – 7th Place, Foundations of Management
  • Matthew Harkins – 9th Place, Business Communications
  • All students participated, tested, and were awarded the Southwest Airlines Professional Communications certification
