STATE COLLEGE — The 2022 State College Area Roller (SCAR) Derby Board of Directors and league members have announced through a press release that it has a new home for the league at C3 Sports, located at 200 Ellis Place, State College.
C3 Sports has the space and amenities that SCAR Derby needs as a rebuilding organization. The Dome is 26,000 square feet of sport court, which will allow the league to easily host games and tournaments and provide a great fan experience as well.
“It is a great central location for all of our league members and also provides space that we can meet off-skates,” said Rachel Gaddis, president and coaching committee chair of State College Area Roller Derby.
“You can find us practicing at C3 Sports two nights a week for now.”
State College Area Roller Derby SCAR Derby is a skater-owned and operated women’s flat-track derby league founded in 2010. It is a volunteer organization, including skater athletes, referees and officials.
The membership is comprised of individuals from the Centre Region spanning a wide range of ages and lifestyles. Together, SCAR Derby forms a strong community of athleticism, healthy competition and fellowship.
In 2015, SCAR Derby became a member of Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and now competes for an international ranking.
SCAR Derby has a travel A-team, a travel B-team and two home teams that practice year-round and compete from February through November. It operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, funded by league dues, ticket sales, skating clinic fees, sponsorship/ad sales and donations.
