ALTOONA — The State College Little Lions placed six players in the top nine positions in the District 6 3A Sectional Golf Tournament held at Sinking Valley Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
State College’s Luke McGraw and Hollidaysburg’s Isaac Miller tied for the top spot overall with one-over-par 73s, while McGraw’s teammates Brady Wager and Chris Warner took the next two spots with a 76 and 77 respectively.
Also in the top 10 for State College were Jacky Sun (80), Luke Ladrido (81) and Charlie Ladrido (82).
The top 10 players in the tournament qualified for the upcoming District 6 tournament, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Scotch Valley Country Club.
In the team tournament, State College easily took first place with a team score of 306, 21 strokes better than second-place Hollidaysburg.
In all, six teams took part in the 3A tournament with Central Mountain, Mifflin County, Altoona and Greater Johnstown following State College and Hollidaysburg.
In the 2A tournament, held at Ebensburg Country Club on Wednesday, Sept. 25, Alex Tamadge from West Shamokin fired a 5-under par 66 to take first-place honors, and he was followed by Jake Pynos from River Valley who shot a 74.
Jake Lucas from Philipsburg-Osceola was the highest local finisher when he shot a 76 and tied for fifth place.
Wade Habovick from Bald Eagle Area (81) and Kane Wolf from Bald Eagle Area (87) were the other local qualifiers for the District Tournament.
In the team event, West Shamokin, River Valley, Central Cambria and Westmont-Hilltop all qualified for the D6 team tournament, which will also take place at Scotch Valley Country Club.
