STATE COLLEGE — A local woman died as the result of a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 in College Township.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash on the 400 block of Trout Road, where they found the vehicle and its driver, 45-year-old Darlene M. Depto of State College.
Depto was entrapped within the vehicle with serious injuries. The victim was extricated from the vehicle, but extensive lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy was performed on Friday at Mount Nittany Medical Center, according to Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner John D. Kubalak.
The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head, neck, and chest sustained in the crash. The manner of death has been ruled as accidental.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing by the State College Borough Police Department and the Centre County Coroner’s Office.
