BOALSBURG — On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, sluggers of all ages went to bat at Saint
Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s 2nd Annual Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby held at the SJCA athletic field.
Seventh grader Carter Steinbugl won the Silver Bracket (8th grade and under) repeating as last year’s champion. Quentin Neil came in 2nd and Liam Williams placed 3rd. Noah Kaplan was the Gold Bracket (grades 9 – 12) Champion, and Ben Page won the Adult Bracket (18+).
The fence was ~100 ft away from the batter’s box. SJCA players, coaches, and alumni served as pitchers for the event. A hit counted as a home run only if it went over the fence and landed completely in fair territory.
Proceeds from the SJCA Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby will be used toward fees to host an upcoming SJCA baseball team game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The SJCA Athletic Program offers competitive PIAA teams for golf, cross country, girls volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, and track and field; and competes in the Tri-Valley Athletic Association.
