CENTRE COUNTY — In local high school baseball, the teams are finishing up Week 5, and the Bellefonte Raiders are still marching on with LHAC victories over Philipsburg-Osceola and Penns Valley.

In the Mid-Penn league, State College came away with two taut victories over conference foes and now stands at 6-4 for the season.

And not to be outdone, Bald Eagle Area scored a total of 32 runs in its last two games and now is 5-3 for the season.

Here is a brief look at where everyone stands:

STATE COLLEGE

State College Little Lions scored two runs on two bunts in the bottom of the fifth inning, and then reliever Rowan Walker pitched out of a last-inning jam as the Lions took a razor-close, 2-1 victory over the Huskies on Monday afternoon at home.

In the bottom of that fifth inning with two on and one out, Walker scored from second base on a fielder’s choice bunt by Alex Ruocco.

The next hitter, Cooper Salvato, bunted down the third base line for a hit, scoring Kellen Williams and giving the Lions a tenuous 2-0 lead.

Mifflin, however, after going down without a hit in the sixth, mounted a possibly winning rally in the seventh.

After two consecutive singles with one out by the Huskies, Walker came into the game in relief and immediately walked a hitter to load the bases.

After a sacrifice fly made the score 2-1 with the possible tying run and winning run on base, Walker got the save on a pop out that ended the game.

Williams and Salvato led the team with two hits each, and Ruocco and Salvato had the RBIs.

Walker got the last two outs of the game with no hits and a walk.

The team’s win was the second in a row after the 5-4 win over Central Dauphin on April 14. The April 16 game at home against Altoona was postponed because of darkness in extra innings with the score tied at 7-7. The game will be made up on April 24 in Altoona.

SC’s schedule has Chambersburg, Williamsport and Cedar Cliff coming up.

BELLEFONTE

The Bellefonte Raiders escaped in Philipsburg on April 16 with an exciting 9-8 victory and then turned on the offense on Monday in Spring Mills with a 13-0 win over Penns Valley.

At P-O, Bellefonte took a 9-6 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning and had to scramble to hold off the Mounties in a 9-8 LHAC win.

With two outs in the seventh, the Mounties’ Damarcus Law lofted a home run over the right field wall to bring his team to within a run at 9-8.

But Triston Heeman, pitching in relief of Zach Lehman, was able to get the final out on a strikeout and the Raiders had their ninth win of the season.

Quenton Crouthamel took offensive honors for Bellefonte with three hits and four RBIs, while Isaac Gall had two hits and an RBI. In all, eight Raiders hit safely in the game.

Lehman took the win with five innings, eight hits, five runs and seven strikeouts.

Then on Monday, the Raiders scored eight runs in the first two innings at Penns Valley and then added five more in the top of the fifth in a 13-0, five-inning win over the Rams.

Parker Von Gunden hit a two-run home run, Lehman had three hits, and Oliver Thornburg had two hits and four RBIs for the Raiders as they recorded win No. 10.

On the mound, Carsen Henry pitched a complete game with three hits, no runs and eight strikeouts.

Now the Raiders have St. Marys and Bedford coming up on April 27 and 30.

BALD EAGLE AREA

Bald Eagle Area baseball team got off to a slow start in 2026, but since April 10, the Eagles won five straight games and are now 7-3 for the year.

The last two wins in that streak were both blowouts — 13-3 in five innings over Chestnut Ridge and 19-3 over non-league West Branch on Saturday in Allport.

Against Chestnut Ridge on April 17, BEA erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, breaking up a 3-3 tie and winning the game under the 10-run rule.

The Eagles sent 12 hitters to the plate with bit hit coming on a game-winning, two-run double by Takoda Ripka (his second in the inning) with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

Earlier in the inning, Luke Hosband hit a bases-loaded, three-run double that put the score at 11-3 and set up Ripka’s winning hit.

Graysen White, Riley Bucha, and Kaden Clark also had hits for the Eagles in the inning.

On the mound, Kaleb Irion pitched all five innings giving up seven hits, three runs and striking out three.

The next day at West Branch, another 10-run inning sparked BEA as the Eagles romped over the Warriors, 19-3.

BEA scored six runs in the first inning, 10 in the second and then ended the game with three runs in the top of the fifth.

Isaac Johnson had two hits and three RBIs while Teagun Runkle had three hits and three RBIs as the Eagles won their seventh game against three losses.

White and Clark chipped in with two hits and two RBIs each.

BEA now has Mount Union, Bedford and Juniata Valley coming on the schedule.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA

The Mounties, ahead by just two runs going into the fifth inning at home against Penns Valley on April 17, scored a run in the fifth and then poured on five more in the sixth inning on the way to a 10-2 win over the Rams.

Archer Baughman, Fischer White and Jack Cartwright each had big RBI hits in the sixth as the Mounties pulled away for the victory.

Baughman’s double scored two runs and made the score 8-2 and then White made it 9-2 with another double.

Two hitters later, Cartwright finished the scoring with a hard single to left field that scored White.

Warren Rafferty and Nick DeSimone combined to throw a three-hitter with two runs, two walks and 10 strikeouts.

The win came after a tough, 9-8 loss to Bellefonte and improved the Mounties’ record to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the LHAC.

P-O now has Tyrone, Clearfield and Richland coming up on the schedule.

ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY

Greenwood High School baseball team avenged an earlier loss to SJCA with an 11-1, five-inning win in Boalsburg on Saturday afternoon.

Greenwood broke out early with six runs in the first two innings and then kept going with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning.

The WolfPack, down 11-0 in the fifth, tried to keep the game alive in the bottom of the fifth after scoring a run, but a double play and a throwout on the bases ended their threat and closed out the game.

Caleb Foytack had a hit and an RBI for SJCA, while Braeden Miller, CJ Grove, Will Balazik, and Isaiah Crispin had the other hits.

The loss dropped the team to 5-6 for the year with big league games against Newport, Line Mountain and Susquenita on the schedule.

PENNS VALLEY

The Penns Valley Rams baseball team ran against two long-time Mountain League opponents in the last week and had trouble generating offense in two one-sided losses.

On April 17, Philipsburg-Osceola broke open a close game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and closed out the Rams, 10-2.

PV scored runs on two RBI hits by Gavin Neideigh, but otherwise could not get anything going against P-O pitchers Warren Rafferty and Nick DeSimone.

The loss with the 10th for the Rams.

Three days later at home against Bellefonte, the Raiders rallied for eight runs in the first two innings and then closed out a 13-0 win with five runs in the top of the fifth.

PV got just three hits, by Parker Feltenburger, Rylan Birge and Rylan Allegretto, as the loss extended the team’s losing streak to six games.

Penns Valley will now have two non-league games in its next three games as the Rams will face Juniata, Tyrone and Moshannon Valley.
