STATE COLLEGE — “Tina — The Tina Turner Musical,” a musical that outlines the life of Tina Turner, will be put on at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Eisenhower Auditorium.
According to a press release from the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State, the musical is “the story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of racism, sexism and ageism to become the
global Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll.”
The musical, which was first performed in London, England, before making its way to Broadway in November 2019, was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, at which Adrienne Warren won Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Music for her portrayal of Turner.
Jayna Elise, “America’s Got Talent” and “American Idol” finalist, will perform the role of Turner during the tour.
Tickets are $83 and $66 for an adult, $45 and $40 for a University Park student and $66
and $49 for a person 18 and younger and are available for purchase online.
