CENTRE COUNTY — Two Centre County crashes — both involving tractor trailers — kept emergency responders busy in recent days.

A hit-and-run crash occurred on the 2600 block of General Potter Highway/U.S. Route 322 in Potter Township shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, injuring a female driver.

Emergency responders from Centre Hall Vol. Fire Co. along with an EMS crew removed an injured female driver from her vehicle after being hit by a tractor trailer which continued traveling down the highway after the crash and did not stop.

The driver, who suffered facial injuries, was transported to a hospital for treatment. Additional information from law enforcement was not immediately available.

On Monday, April 13 at 5:18 a.m., a SUV collided with the back end of a tractor trailer on the 1800 block of Port Matilda Highway/U.S. Route 322 westbound.

According to officials from Philipsburg Vol. Fire Co., emergency responders from Moshannon Valley EMS arrived on scene first to discover that the driver of the SUV was able to self-extricate from the wreckage with no significant injuries.

The vehicle was destroyed by the crash.

The westbound lane of traffic was closed while the wreckage was cleaned up.
