COBURN — Lace up your running shoes and get ready for one of Central Pennsylvania’s most scenic and welcoming outdoor events.
The Tunnel Trot 2026, hosted by the Penns Valley Conservation Association, returns to Coburn Park on Saturday, Sept. 5, bringing together runners, walkers, families, and nature enthusiasts for a memorable 5K and 10K experience.
Set at the picturesque confluence of Elk, Pine, and Penns Creek, the Tunnel Trot offers participants more than just a race — it’s an immersive journey through the natural beauty of Penns Valley. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply enjoying a relaxing morning outdoors, the event is designed for all ages and abilities
Participants will follow a mostly flat course that winds alongside Penns Creek and passes through peaceful countryside, with options for both 5K and 10K distances. The route features a mix of gravel, dirt, and paved surfaces, and includes a jog past a unique highlight: the historic Coburn Tunnel. The 10K course extends further along the Penns Creek rail trail, offering even more scenic views and fresh air.
Race day activities kick off at 9 a.m. with check-in, followed by a 9:30 a.m. start time. Awards will be presented in multiple divisions, celebrating participants of all skill levels.
Beyond the finish line, the Tunnel Trot has a meaningful mission: proceeds from the event directly support PVCA’s environmental education programs. These initiatives provide local students and families with hands-on learning opportunities, field trips, and nature-based experiences that have inspired the community for decades
Early registrants who sign up by Aug. 10 will receive a commemorative Tunnel Trot T-shirt, making it even easier to remember the day’s achievements
Tunnel Trot is more than just a race — it’s a celebration of community, wellness, and the natural beauty that surrounds us. We invite everyone to come out, move at their own pace, and be part of something that gives back.
Registration is $25, with day-of registration available. Participants under 18 must have a guardian signature as part of the registration process.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or simply looking for a fun way to spend a late summer morning, Tunnel Trot 2026 offers a welcoming and vibrant experience for all.
