CENTRE COUNTY — Volunteer Centre County is a volunteer center. It is a free community service that helps fill the need for volunteers and donated goods at different Centre County nonprofit organizations, making giving back easy.
The volunteer center has an app that interested volunteers can use to find different ways to make a non-monetary difference to local charities serving people in Centre County. Information can also be found at volunteercentrecounty.org.
With over 106 community partners, Volunteer Centre County is a good place for people to start finding ways to give time and/or donate goods in Centre County.
“With my six years of experience in the nonprofit community of Centre County, I can confidently say Volunteer Centre County is a huge asset to our community,” said Alyssa Johnson, Volunteer Centre County’s secretary and board member.
“By helping our community partners to fulfill volunteer needs or find donations of goods, these nonprofits can provide more services in our community. This is also beneficial to the volunteers, as it gives those looking to give back a one-stop-shop to make volunteering easier and to find what works best for the volunteers in one centrally located spot online.”
Ann Echols, executive director of Volunteer Centre County, said, “Volunteering and donating needed goods can help transform Centre County into a better, happier, more secure place for all.
“When you’re helping satisfy a need, be that a need for your services or a need for donated goods, it’s easy to feel satisfied because volunteering stimulates feelings of euphoria while promoting the release of endorphins. Giving back can give you a much-needed boost, as well as increase one’s health, self-esteem and personal satisfaction.”
Volunteer Centre County asks volunteers for their time, skills and talents; gently used items; and other donated goods. Echols says that the process can build a stronger Centre County.
“Volunteer Centre County is grateful for the support that is given to our wonderful local charities,” Echols said.
She also noted that she would like to thank all the volunteers for helping to serve others and for making Centre County a special place for all.
