LEMONT — Artist Jennifer “JE Crum” Wilson will be displaying up to 30 pieces of her art at Cafe Lemont, 921 Pike St., Lemont, during the month of August.
The cafe is open daily, Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Proceeds from sales will help Wilson purchase extra items for students in her art classes.
Wilson talked about the significance of her works of art.
“My works continue to express my inner thoughts about my life and the connection I find to theories about fate and destiny, told visually in stories created with my art style in correlation to ancient mythological beings. It’s a mystical experience — my art making process. What evolves seems to truly be something I can’t always explain or understand. I try to interpret my art when it’s done; knowing when works are complete happens intuitively. I have no concrete plan of what I am making when I create my work; I let the pieces guide me as I enjoy getting lost,” she said. “I find what I create to be a culmination of self-actualizations, which help me better understand happenings in my life, through spiritual realization. I think the works speak a truth that I cannot really put into words. I invite viewers to form their own meanings, making connections based on their individual life experiences.”
