Centre County Reports 1 New COVID-19 Death, No New Cases

Centre County on Tuesday added no new COVID-19 cases for the fourth time this month, but reported one new death attributed to the virus.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the county has now had 225 COVID-19 deaths, while its total number of cases remains at 16,894.

Pennsylvania added 453 new positives for a statewide total of 1,209,136.

With 24 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,514.

The county reported seven additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,219. Statewide, there were 7,371 new negatives for a total of 4,686,041.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating five COVID-19 inpatients, unchanged from Monday. The patients range in age from 35 and 87, a hospital spokesperson said. According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, one COVID-19 patient in Centre County is in intensive care.

Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations fell below 500 to reach their lowest level since last September. Pennsylvania has 492 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 20 since Monday, with 129 in intensive care [-1] and 86 on ventilators [+3].

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Tuesday morning, 73,464 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,167 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
