A State College pizza shop has closed its doors after more than three decades in business.
Gumby’s Pizza, located at 300 S. Pugh St., has permanently closed, according to a sign posted in the restaurant’s window. The franchise was known for its “Pokey Stix” breadsticks and served as a longtime staple of State College’s late-night landscape, particularly among Penn State students.
“Thank you for all your patronage and support for over 30 years,” a sign in Gumby’s storefront reads.

At this time, it’s unclear what spurred the restaurant’s sudden closure. A store representative was not immediately available for comment on Saturday. The store’s phone lines and online ordering services already appear disconnected.
While the chain’s State College location appears closed for good, Gumby’s still operates more than a dozen other locations across the country, according to its website. Its restaurants are notably centered at other colleges like Texas A&M, the University of Iowa and the University of Florida.
