Brian E. Young, 45, of Runville, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Born on February 1, 1979, he was the son of Timothy E. Young of Runville and the late Brenda L. (Rearick) Young. On August 3, 2024, he married Janelle R. Eckley, who survives at home.
Brian was a proud 1997 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He worked at State of the Art in State College and also drove a van for D & D Motors. Brian was a dedicated member of the Freedom Life Church in Milesburg, where he found both faith and community.
A passionate coach, Brian spent many years coaching Milesburg Little League, shaping the lives of young athletes. He was also an active member of the Milesburg Volunteer Fire Company contributing to his community with both heart and service. To his dismay, he had to step back from the fire company a few years ago due to his health issues. Brian enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and playing games, especially card games. His playful spirit was infectious, always ready with a witty one-liner that could bring laughter to any room.
A lifelong sports fan, Brian cheered for Penn State Football, the Washington Redskins, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, never missing an opportunity to support his teams. He also kept a close eye on all the sports at Bald Eagle Area, always following with great enthusiasm.
Brian’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his father, his beloved wife, and their two sons—Aidan J. Young, “Best Pal,” and Silas L. Young, “Little Buddy,” both of Runville. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Savannah R. Burd, “Honey Girl,” of Bellefonte. Brian is also survived by his brother and best friend, Travis L. Young of State College, his aunt which was like a mother to him after his mom passed away, Kimberly (Young) Knable, a cousin who was like a sister Sierra (James) Page and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Above all, Brian loved his family deeply and always wished for their happiness and success.
Along with his mother, Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Ted and Helen Young and maternal grandparents: John and Phyllis Rearick.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Freedom Life Church in Milesburg. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 PM, with Pastor Joshua Simonetti officiating. Brian will be laid to rest beside his mother at Meyer Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Milesburg Little League, C/O Ryan Dinger, PO Box 126, Milesburg, PA 16853.
