Cameron Franklin Bausch, 82, of State College, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Harmony at State College.

Born July 24, 1942, in Danville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Cameron and Mildred Krum Bausch. On June 27, 1964 he married Judy Wilson, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sherri Bausch of State College, and two grandchildren, Mia and Samuel Pisano. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Cameron Bausch, and his sister Carol Jean Dalton.

Cameron graduated from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1964, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He then went on to complete graduate level work in Elementary Education at The Pennsylvania State University, obtaining his Master’s degree plus thirty. Over his professional tenure, he was involved with Penn State as an active member of the College of Education Alumni Board, mentoring and teaching aspiring Elementary educators. 

His passion for learning and education was evident throughout his forty-year career during his position as Elementary principal in the State College Area School District at Corl Street and Easterly Parkway Elementary Schools. eventually serving as the Elementary Coordinator for the district. In 1997 he was recognized as a Pennsylvania Distinguished Principal and also as a National Distinguished Principal, an honor that filled him with joy. Cameron completed his career as Assistant to The Superintendent of SCASD, serving until 2007, when he retired. 

Cameron was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 40 years as a parent volunteer for the bell choir, as well as serving on several call committees and the church board. He was also an active member of Kiwanis and volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels.

His greatest satisfaction besides education were his wife, grandchildren, family, friends and neighbors, as he always had time for a visit or to help with a project.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 4-6 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2pm, following a visitation from 1-2pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S Garner St, State College, PA 16801 with Reverend Scott Schul officiating.

Burial will be in Graysville Cemetery at a later date
