Carl V. Homan, 70, of Centre Hall, entered into his eternal home and into the arms of God on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on June 18, 1951, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late George and Ruth (Burris) Homan. He was the 9th of 14 children, and the first to not be born at home. On February 12, 1972, at the UCC church in Rebersburg, he married the love of his life, Diane E. Homan, who survives at home.

Carl graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1971 and a partner of the church, Family Life of Penns Valley, where he served as an elder. Carl spent his life in agriculture, first as a dairy producer, changing to raising beef.

God made a farmer when he made Carl. Farming was not just a way of life for him, it was his heritage. A legacy that started in 1906, when the Homan family obtained the farm. He was very accepting of the fact that this life of farming allowed for very little time off, and next to no vacations. He loved the land and the livestock, never complaining about long days or late nights. He was strong, yet gentle. His late teenage years were spent as a PA state officer in the FFA as well as serving on the Soil and Water Conservation Board. As a caretaker of God’s creation, he continued to serve on various boards relating to soil conservation and ag land preservation.

Carl’s heart and love for family has never been questioned. Time for play was sometimes limited, but commitment to each one was known. As a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, he knew how to love those around him. He played his part in each role with care, to bless, not hurt. He gave his entire heart to his family and those he loved. This was a man with God’s heart for people. He loved deeply and unconditionally, placing more value on others than himself. He was a servant, serving his Lord Jesus Christ in the church and outside the church walls in God’s mission field. He was quick to smile, listen, and care. He was patient and accepting of those around him. Many were lucky enough to call him friend. He’s touched many lives in his 70 years. He left his corner of this world and his sphere of influence a better place.

Along with his wife of 49 years, he is survived by three children, Tammy (Steve) Wolfe of Centre Hall, Shawn (Veronica) Homan of Lufkin, TX, Justin (Sarah) Homan of Centre Hall; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Collin, Alden, Liberty, Gianna, Marissa, Audrey, Colby, Danika, and Mataya; nine brothers, Nevin (Norma) Homan of Centre Hall, Ronald (Patti) Homan of Centre Hall, Harold (Ginny) Homan of Centre Hall, Roy (Gay) Homan of Centre Hall, Bruce (Brenda) Homan of Madisonburg, Jerry (Judy) Homan of Centre Hall, Larry (Donna) Homan of Centre Hall, Barry Homan of Millheim, and Kevin Homan of Kinston; three sisters, Linda (Dan) Wolf of Williamsport, Connie (Bob) Perry of Milesburg, and Kathy (Terry) Crissinger of Coburn; his sister in-law, Mary Homan of Centre Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, David Homan.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on the farm, on top of the hill, overlooking the land, come spring when the weather allows.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Family Life of Penns Valley, 108 Ridge Road, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
