Clair A. “Bud” Godissart, 88, of Philipsburg, went into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Born December 29, 1936, to Albert Joseph Godissart and Mildred Pearl (Folmar) Godissart of Chester Hill, Bud grew up in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. Always a hard worker, Bud worked three jobs while attending Philipsburg High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He purchased and operated Simler Insurance Agency as an agent and broker; and also he was a realtor with New Horizons Real Estate.
Bud was deeply committed to serving his community, spending years as a scout leader, school board member, lay leader, Sunday school teacher, and active member of his church. He had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, a servant’s heart, and was always on the lookout for someone who needed a helping hand.
Above all, Bud put his family first. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Ashcroft) Godissart; his children, David Clair Godissart and his wife, Barbara; John Albert Godissart and his wife, Karen; and Kathryn Joy (Godissart) Anderson and her husband, Corbin; his grandchildren, Alexandria Goldinger, Christopher Godissart, Joel Godissart, Elianna Godissart, Albert Godissart, Sada Anderson, Lillie Godissart, Analiese Godissart, and Zayden Anderson; his sisters, Patricia Biggins and Louise McQuillen; as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved dog, Spunky.
He taught those around him valuable lessons, not just in words but through example: Don’t rest until the work is done. Family comes first. For all the good worrying does, put it on the schedule for Thursday at 3, give it ten minutes, then move on. What you must do, do quickly; we’re running out of daylight.
Courageously battling multiple health challenges in recent years, Bud spent his days looking for those who needed his help, and would often begin his day asking, “Who can we help today?” He reminded his family not to be sad when he was no longer with them, assuring them that he was “jammed up jelly tight and ready to go.” He had a long list of friends and relatives he wanted to reunite with in heaven, and he couldn’t wait to hug his mom and bail hay with his dad again.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made in Bud’s memory to The Well of Blair County at 605 Burns Ave., Altoona PA 16601 or The Gideons International at P. O. Box 812, Duncansville PA 16635-0812.
