Constance M. “Connie” Rhoads, 87, of Bellefonte, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 7, 2025, while surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bellefonte, on March 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Myrtle M. (Smith) Thomas. On February 27, 1960, in Bellefonte, she married Donald F. Rhoads, who preceded her in death in October of 2021.
Connie graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1956. For many years, Connie proudly raised her children and took care of their home. Later she began working for American Greetings in merchandising, stocking their cards in various stores.
Connie was of the Methodist Faith. She loved to cook and take care of people. She was a character; feisty, loving, funny, caring, and slightly known to be a little hard headed at times. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, crafting, and ordering off of QVC. She had a sweet tooth and could never turn down a Wendy’s chocolate frosty! Her smile lit up a room and the love she had was contagious. Even if she made you roll your eyes, you did so with a grin and a small shake of the head because you knew she loved you and you would always love her.
Connie is survived by four children; Donald F. Rhoads, II “Butch” and his wife, Alice, of Bellefonte, Dianna L. King “Dee” of Bellefonte, Dwayne R. Rhoads “Pooh” of Bellefonte, and Denise M. Rhoads “Shelly” of Centre Hall; five grandchildren; Kristine King “Krissy” of Bellefonte, Kyle King of Bellefonte, Tyler Rhoads and his wife, Morgan, of Julian, Kayla Rhoads of Kansas City, MO, and Caitlyn Rhoads of Centre Hall; and one great grandchild, Axle Rhoads.
Along with her husband and parents, Connie was preceded in death by her son in-law, Jeffrey King.
A graveside service to honor both Connie and her late husband, Donald, will be held at Centre County Memorial Park on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:30am with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating.
The family would like to thank the entire care team of Hospice 365 for their compassion and exceptional care they gave to both Connie and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, 2026 Sandy Drive, State College, PA 16803 or to Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
