Craig M. Walters, 71, of Pine Grove Mills, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. He was born to Marlin and Helen Walters of Enola, PA. He is survived by Janet M. Walters (Schmidt) of Pine Grove Mills, PA. He and Janet have two sons: Justin C. Walters, MS of Harleysville and his daughter, Olivia P. Walters; and Brendan D. Walters and his partner, Katie, of Kingston, NY and their children, Willow and Westin Walters. Craig and Janet have been happily married for just over 48 years.
Craig graduated from East Pennsboro High School, Enola, PA, where he was active in basketball and baseball, as well as participating in plays. He received his B.S. Degree in Psychology from Clarion University of PA, where he met the love of his life. Craig earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University, Morgantown.
Craig has been in the mental health/ drug and alcohol field for 40+ years. His early career began at Holy Spirit Hospital (Geisinger) C.M.H.C. in Camp Hill, PA. After graduate school, Craig worked for Horizon Health Corp, establishing a 24-bed psych/D&A unit at Central West VA Hospital. He next was part of the original start-up staff of the Meadows Psychiatric Center, Centre Hall, PA, from 1984 – 1998 in clinical and as Assistant Director of the Social Work department; family programs; and drug and alcohol supervisor and codependency track. Craig continued his career full-time from 1998 until he retired in October of 2025, practicing independently at Sunpointe Health in State College, PA.
Craig enjoyed sports, golf, the beach, traveling, and music.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Westerly Parkway, State College, on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10 am – 11 am. A memorial mass will immediately follow at 11 am with Father Ralph Mensah officiating.
