Darlene J. Lucas, 75, of Milesburg, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born on December 30, 1948, in Corry, PA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Oscar and Florence (Lindstrom) Vance. On June 30, 1973, she married the love of her life, George A. Lucas, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. George preceded her in death in 2003.

Darlene was a proud graduate of Corry High School and dedicated over 35 years of her life as a Lab Technician in the Soil Lab at Penn State University. She was an active member of the Milesburg Baptist Church and embraced her community through various organizations. Darlene was involved with the Red Hat Society, the Clarence American Legion, the Clarence Moose Club, the Bellefonte VFW Auxiliary, and the Milesburg American Legion Auxiliary. She also found joy at the Snow Shoe Senior Center, where she participated in lively activities and cherished the company of friends on bus trips.

Darlene had a passion for bingo and enjoyed visiting local casinos, but her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Shelley R. Watson and her husband, John, of Julian; two adored grandchildren, Jaclyn Ondik and her husband, Justin, of State College, and Haley Watson and her boyfriend, Carson Mayhew, of Bellefonte; and three precious great-grandchildren, Ava, Rowan, and Chase.

In addition to her immediate family, Darlene is survived by her two sisters, Carolyn Westfall and her husband, Jerry, of Florida, and Wilma McClellan and her husband, Jack, of Corry; her brother, Don Vance and his wife, Diane, of Corry; her sister-in-law, Penny Vance of Corry and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dan Vance, and her sister, Bonnie McConachie.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Milesburg Baptist Church, 110 Market St., Milesburg, with Pastor Jeffrey Trawinski officiating. Darlene will be laid to rest alongside George in a private ceremony at Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe Township.
