Donald J. Guisewhite, 85, of Pleasant Gap, was welcomed into his eternal home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Born on March 23, 1937, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Lingle) Guisewhite. Just shy of 65 years ago, he married the love of his life, Shirley Long, on November 30, 1957, in Winchester, VA. She survives in their home of 60 years.

Donnie started working for the Pleasant Gap Milk Company in 1957 and then the Pearce Milk Company. He proudly served his country, in the United States Army with the Military Police Unit from 1960 through September 1962, earning his GED while enlisted. He served 13 months in Korea and then transferred into the Army Reserves in State College until his honorable discharge on August 31, 1966. He then continued his career in the dairy production industry, working for Schneider/Valley Farms, until his retirement in 2001. He also worked for Don Biddle at the Nursery for many years.

Donnie was a life long member of the Calvary Bible Church. He loved the Lord and was involved in the children’s ministry for many years. He had trusted Jesus as his Savior at the tender age of 11. He was a faithful man, both to the Lord and to his wife and family. He always enjoyed working in soil, planting and tending to vegetables and flowers, especially his roses. He had tended to rose gardens for over 50 years, ensuring roses adorned their table from the end of March until the frost. He had a life-long hobby of reading and camping with his family along the Juniata River for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and sitting around the campfire. He and Shirley spent their years loving God and each other. He was a strong and kind soul and always a true family man.

Along with his wife, Donnie is survived by 2 sons, Timothy D. Guisewhite and his wife, Angela, of La Fountain, IN and Mark S. Guisewhite of Tupper Lake, NY; 2 grandchildren, Wade Javorksy and Mary Newhouse; one precious great granddaughter, Lucy Eloise Newhouse; his beloved sister that helped raise and care from him at the early age of 12, Frances Confer of Aaronsburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family and friends.

Along with his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his daughter in-law, Missy Guisewhite and 11 siblings, Rufus “Pete”, James, William, Sara, Saphrona, Mae, Hazel, Bernice, Anna, Betty, and Josephine.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 10am – 11am at the Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11am at the church with Pastor Rick Gilbaugh officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Spring Mills.
