Donna L. Hockenberry, 80, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on November 29, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Josephine (DelSotto) Ghiotto. On June 6, 1981, she married her beloved husband, James Hockenberry, who preceded her in death on July 8, 2016, after sharing 35 years of marriage together.
Donna was a 1963 graduate of Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois. She worked at the Illinois College of Optometry as an administrative assistant to the college President. After relocating to Pennsylvania she was employed at Penn State for over 20 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Wayne, Linda, Roy, and Mike, all of Pennsylvania, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her three brothers, Art, Jr. of Illinois, Raymond of California, and Warren of Kentucky, and three sisters, Pat of Indiana, Joyce of Iowa, and Debra of Illinois.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Richard.
Donna enjoyed puzzles and was an avid reader in her free time. She loved spending time with her family.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 10:00 – 10:30 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
