Ethel L. Wolfe, 89 of rural Julian passed away at Penn Highland Hospital in Tyrone, on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Ethel was born in Philipsburg on May 18, 1933, a daughter of the late Lee and Abby Brower Hoover. Ethel is survived by her husband, Harry J. Wolfe at home. Also surviving are her children, Sharon Welsh of Julian, Shirley (Stephen) Harpster of Julian, Kimberly (Brian) Rittenhouse of Lewistown, Karen (Lawrence) Byler of Mifflintown, Stephen (Debra) Donley of Julian and Charles (Kimberly) Donley also of Julian. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren and one sister, Virge Werner of Tyrone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter Tara Sheaffer and her great grandson Tyler Houser, and her siblings, Ella Eckert, Mildred Caber, Herbert Hoover and Curt Hoover. Before her retirement, Ethel was employed at Erie Tech in the Quality Control Department.
Ethel was a member of the Milesburg Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Milesburg American Legion Post 893 Auxiliary Honor Guard and a collector of glass shoes.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 10:00 A. M. – 12:00 Noon at The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 201 Spring St., Milesburg. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor B. Jeffrey Trawinski, officiating.
