Frazier E. Schlegel, 89, of Julian passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in State College. He was born on July 12, 1936, in Bellefonte, to the late Jay I. and Zora (Stewart) Schlegel. On January 8, 1958, he married his beloved wife, Sandra (Adams) who survives at home.
Frazier was a 1954 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard for 2 years then enlisted in the United States Air Force for 4 years and finally retiring from the Air National Guard after 26 years of service. He worked for over 50 years as a lab technician at Cerro Copper and Brass until his retirement. Frazier coached his sons’ teener league baseball teams throughout their years in baseball. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family but especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan, he enjoyed riding his bicycle, attending church, watching old westerns and supporting his community.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher Schlegel (Laurie) of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeffrey Schlegel (Pamela) of Mechanicsburg, Susan Schlegel of Julian, and three grandchildren, Makaela Moran-Schlegel, Tyson Moran-Schlegel and Collin Schlegel.
Frazier was the last of his generation. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Jane Robinson, Zora Schlegel Brandt, Nancy Wetzel, Genevieve Pannier, Beverly Burdette, Myra Burlew, Gloria Oliver, Irvin, Jay, Gary, James, Warren, and William Schlegel.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 1:00pm with full military honors at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
