Fred Graham Koch (65) Passed from this life on August 6, 2021 at UPMC in Williamsport PA.
Fred was born in Bellefonte on June 05, 1956. The son of the late Fred G Koch and Kathryn V. Baney and Stepfather George Baney.
Growing up in Boalsburg, he graduated from State College High School. Fred proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 from 1973 – 1977. During his service Fred earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal with 1 Bronze star, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
After the Navy Fred went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, as well as being a Journeyman Electrician. Fred was an avid Bowler and Golfer, past times which he enjoyed very much no matter how frustrating these games could be! Fred was a beloved Brother, Uncle, and Friend. No matter the situation, Fred’s advice was the same “you always have to have a plan”!
Fred was also very active with the Millheim Legion Post 444 serving on the Honor Guard. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 9575 of Potters Mills, where as a member he served as post Adjutant, and through the club was one of the founders of the Veteran’s Assistance Fund of Centre County.
Fred is survived by two sisters Nancy Walls of Palm Coast Florida, and Laura Kaye Dorman of Blanchard, as well as a Niece Cindy Puff of Centre Hall, and Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to VFW Post 9575, or the Millheim Legion Post 444.
