Gilbert (Gib) Lewis, age 85, of State College, died April 1, 2023 at home. Born October 2, 1937 in Butler, PA, he was the son of the late Gilbert L. Lewis Sr. and Florence (Stehle) Lewis. On August 27, 1960, he married Linda (Davidson) Lewis who survives at home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Selma (Lewis) King.
He is survived by 3 sons, Gary L. Lewis and his wife Nan of Corona, CA, Scott D. Lewis, his wife Lan, and their 3 children, Alex Lewis, Chris Lewis, and Athena Nguyen of State College, and Bruce A. Lewis of State College and many much-loved family members.
After working for many years as a Credit Manager with Spang/Magnetics Inc. in Butler, PA he retired in 2003.
Gib was an accomplished football player at Butler High School playing on both sides of the ball. He played Center and Guard at Westminster College and was honored as a Little All-American. He was also voted into the Butler County Hall of Fame in 1990.
He was active with his son’s baseball teams as a Coach and Base Coach. He also served as a Coach and Treasurer for the South Butler Midget Football League.
After moving to State College, Gib got involved in High School Athletics as a timekeeper and ticket sales for football games.
Gib was very active in his church serving in many capacities.
Gib cherished his lifelong friends and meaningful relationships he established since moving to State College.
