Jan D. Schmoke

Jan D. Schmoke, 72, of Pottersdale, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at his home. Born on May 17, 1948, in Renovo, he was the son of the late Andrew K. and Stella B. (Moore) Schmoke.

Jan attended school in Karthaus. He was of the Methodist faith.

Jan loved all animals and enjoyed tending to his cows, chickens, and cats. He enjoyed trapping and coon hunting. He liked to watch football games on TV and his favorite team was any team that beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jan is survived by one sister, Phoebe A. Borger of Moshannon and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Orville, James, Kline, William, Dean, Christy, and Levern: and seven sisters: Roberta Firestone, Charlene Schmoke, Geneva Hess, Rose Teets, Violia Teets, Edna Summerson, and Violet Schmoke.

Public visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10-11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe, followed by a funeral service at 11am with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Burial will be private at the Schmoke Cemetery in Pottersdale. Following CDC recommendations, social distancing is encouraged, and face coverings will be required at all services.
