Janice E. Shaw, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Centre Care. Born on March 19, 1933, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Louise A. (Miller) Shultz. On July 5, 1952, she married her beloved husband, Jenkin P. Shaw, who preceded her in death on August 29, 1999, after sharing 47 years of marriage together.
Janice was a 1951 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Belle Telephone. She also was a receptionist for O.W. Houtz and HRI. In her later years, she worked as a cafeteria aide for the Bellefonte School District.
She is survived by her two children, Margaret Bjalme (Rick) of Colyer Lake, and Jenkin P. Shaw, II of Bellefonte, one granddaughter, Allison Smith (Joshua) of Wormleyburg, step granddaughter, Riki Duck of Loganton and a great granddaughter, Brooke Morrison of Wormleysburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her five siblings, Marion Taylor, Miles Shultz, Hassel Shultz, Barbara Taylor, and John Shultz. She was the last of her generation.
Janice was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed Penn State football and wrestling, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers. She also looked forward to family trips to the beach, where she enjoyed going swimming in the ocean. Janice left a mark on anyone who was fortunate enough to meet her; her feisty personality was unforgettable. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family. A loving wife, caring mother, adoring grandmother, and a loyal friend, she leaves behind endless life lessons and memories that her loved ones will cherish for eternity.
Funeral and burial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
