Leo Edward Robert, 83, of State College, PA, died August 06, 2025, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Nittany Valley, Pleasant Gap, PA.

He was born September 01, 1941 in Acushnet, MA to the late Leo and Anita (Goyette) Robert.

Leo, upon graduation of high school joined the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Vietnam War having received the Purple Heart. After which, Leo went on to the rank of Sergeant Major retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of service. His decorated service included the following awards, citations and campaign ribbons; Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, Navy Achievement (w/1*), Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (w/9*) National Defense Service Medal, RVN Gal Cross (w/1*), Vietnam Service Medal (w/5*), Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (w1*), RVNMUC Gal Cross w/palm/frame, RVNMC CIVACTNCLR w/palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Presidential Service Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, Rifle Expert Badge and the Meritorious Service Medal. Leo was member and past Commandant of the Marine Corps League, State College, PA.

He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College.

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Rita Anne (Bastarache) Robert; two sons: Edward M. Robert, State College; Richard E. Robert and his wife Tracy Robert of State College; daughter-in-law, Mary C. Robert, State College; four grandchildren: Andrew Robert, Megan LeClair and husband Matty LeClair, Matthew Robert and Joshua Robert; one brother: Eugene R. Robert, New Bedford, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Elaine L. Robert and Linda J. Canty.

There will be no public viewing. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at the church with Fr. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College. Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801 is assisting the family with their arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions made to the Gabriel Project, c/o Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801.

Veteran Honors will be conducted by the Marine Corps Funeral Detail at the Cemetery.
