Mabel E. Schillings, 84, formerly of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Centre Care Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on December 10, 1936, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Dorothy L. (Garbrick) Houser. On November 23, 1955, in Lock Haven, she married Clayton C. Schillings. Clayton passed away on February 27, 2015.
Mabel was a 1954 graduate of State College High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall.

Mabel was an excellent cook and baker. She entered many of her home canned goods, baked goods, home grown fruit, and knitting projects into the Centre County Grange Fair and won numerous awards. She enjoyed the friendly competitiveness of the entries from “the regulars”. Many of them would start planning the next year’s entries immediately following the fair. Mabel had this tradition of over 40+ years and she made many lasting friendships throughout those years.

Mabel is survived by her three children: James A. “Jim” Schillings and his significant other, Christine Stover, of Centre Hall, Linda M. Stephens and her husband, Thomas, of Centre Hall, and Mary Jo Schilling also of Centre Hall; two grandchildren, Amanda Ruth and her husband, Justin, of Pennsdale, Ashley Stephens and her significant other, Christopher Grafmyre, of Bellefonte; three step grandchildren: Mike, Matt, and Nick, and three great grandchildren: Aubrey Ruth, Cayden Ruth, and Chasen Grafmyre.

Along with her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her only sister, Margaret Walker. Mabel was the last of her generation.

All services will be private at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Gilbaugh officiating. Mabel will be laid to rest at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
