Marjorie S. Haagen, 97, of Bellefonte and formerly of Yarnell, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Centre Crest. Majorie was born on March 15, 1923 in Willoughby, Ohio, a daughter of the late Percy P. and Elleanor M. Barnes Saxton. She was the last of her generation. On June 22, 1956 she married Neil B. Haagen, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1988. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Neil B. (Susan) Haagen, Jr. and Douglas A. Haagen, all of Bellefonte, and Perry D. (Debra) Haagen of Johnson City, TN. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren. Marjorie had been employed at the Cleveland Trust Bank in Human Resources in Cleveland, OH, and Bellefonte Bank and Trust.
She was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ, where she enjoyed acting and singing in the annual “King of Kings” musical. Margie was active for many years in Bellefonte Sr. Citizens and Pleasant Valley UMC Ladies Aid. She was a past board member for the Centre Co. Office of Aging and Strawberry Fields. In her younger years Margie sang with the Cafarelli Opera Co. in Cleveland and was an assistant camp director at Camp Christian in Magnetic Springs, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Clayton Saxton, Virginia Neil, Wealtha Berkey and Robert Saxton.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Blanchard Church of Christ Cemetery, with Pastor Russel Moldovan officiating.
