Mark A. Rupert, 60, of Spring Mills, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the WellSpan York Hospital. Born on February 18, 1963, in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Charles Clifford and Lucille Frances (Tucholski) Rupert.
Mark graduated from Bellefonte Area High School and attended Lock Haven University. He was an Operations Supervisor at Hanover Foods in Centre Hall.
Mark is survived by his son, Clifford Rupert and his partner, Suzanne, of State College; three brothers, Thomas Rupert (Kathy) of Middlebury, VT, Roy Rupert (Bobbie) of Coburn, Gary Rupert (Denise) of Rebersburg; two sisters, Eileen Rupert (Pete) of Marshall, NC and Carol Masullo (Patrick) of Bellefonte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark was a good man with a kind heart, contagious smile and a fierce spirit that carried him through a long, courageous battle with various health issues that never defined him. He found spirituality and strength in nature and always led his life with a positive attitude. Mark left a legacy of courage and grace and was an inspiration to all that were fortunate enough to know him.
Mark loved his daily bike rides at dawn, tending to his beloved wooded property, gardening, canoeing and mountain rides in the beautiful countryside of Penns Valley. He spent many days hiking with his son and reached a goal together of hiking Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Mark was a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan, avid golfer, and fisherman. He loved to read and enjoyed all genres of music.
Mark cherished his role as a devoted father, loving son, brother, and uncle. He was grateful for his family and always brought humor and music to family gatherings and could often be found enjoying a laugh with his many nieces and nephews. Mark was a loyal friend and will be missed by many.
Mark was a founding member of the Penns Valley Pedals and Pints bike club and was proud to give back to the community he loved. The funds raised at the weekly rides from May to September each year are donated to the East Penns Valley Library, Penns Valley Conservation Association, Penns Valley Hope Fund, Penns Valley EMS, Millheim Fire Company, and the Millheim Pool.
Special thanks to the Pittsburgh medical staff that treated Mark with such loving care and were instrumental in returning Mark to his active lifestyle; UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Shadyside Stem Cell Unit and UPMC Montefiore.
