Mary Ann (Koehle) Weakland died July 4, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Altoona, PA March 25, 1938 on the feast of the Annunciation, to the late Aloysius B. and Bertha (Greiner) Koehle, she was a 1956 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She married Ronald C. Weakland at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altoona on May 21, 1960. 

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by five children: Michael (Leslie) Weakland of Kansas City; David (Pamela) Weakland of Camp Hill; Joleen (Ray) Alexander of Spring Mills; Daniel (Christine) Weakland of Pennsylvania Furnace; and Christopher (Samantha) Weakland of State College. Her youngest son, Matthew, died of leukemia at age 19 on March 29, 1995.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren: Ambri (Dane) Heimerman, Clay, Kateri, Tessa, and Gus; Wes (Stephanie) Alexander, Sophia, Liza, and Lydia; Alyssa (Chris) Good, baby on the way; Dannelle Alexander; Benjamin (Katelyn) Alexander, Emmeline and Myles; Jadyn Alexander; Kenny (Cylena) Murray, Ada and M’Khari; Jacob (Janée) Weakland, Ella Lawless, Max and Emeree Ackerley; Joseph Weakland; Anna (Seaver) Williams; Cy (Mallory) Weakland, Claire, Lucas, and Nora; Alexandra (Andrew) Bartoldson, Deacon and Cameron; Jared, Cole, and Drew Weakland; Tyler and Katie Weakland; Joshua (Olivia) Weakland, baby on the way; Emma (George) Pippin, Georgie and Brooks; John (Abbey) Weakland, Ava; Mark (Kendra) Weakland, Sebastian.

Deeply missed by four sisters and two brothers: Patricia McTavish, Kathleen Corl, Michaeleen (Jim) Lamont, Jean Marie Koehle, Joe (Cathy) Koehle, and Tony (Sue) Koehle. Preceded in death by brother Aloysius and wife Floyce Koehle, brothers-in-law Harry K. Corl and Charles McTavish. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mary Ann felt blessed and privileged to attend Mass every day with her husband and receive the Body and Blood of Christ, knowing the Holy Eucharist was the center of her life. She was especially thankful for her parents’ strong Catholic faith and family values, for family and friends were of utmost importance to her. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and prison ministry at Rockview and Benner. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Matthew J. Weakland Scholarship Fund, c/o Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, 800 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA or OLV Church Youth Group.

Visitation will take place at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA on Thursday July 11, 2024 from 4-7 PM. 

A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father George Jakopac will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 800 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10 AM. 

She will be laid to rest at Pine Hall Cemetery at a later date.
