Mary E. McKean, 86, of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020 at her home. Born on October 29, 1933, in Snow Shoe, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Carrie E. (Quick) Swartz. On April 8, 1950, at the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, she married Lawrence E. “Larry” McKean, who passed away on March 22, 2018.
Mary attended the Snow Shoe High School She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, life member of the Snow Shoe VFW and the Snow Shoe VFW Auxiliary, and the Snow Shoe Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary truly loved to go to her hairdresser and have her hair done. She enjoyed working all kinds of puzzles, going shopping, and decorating her home for every holiday. She looked forward to visits from her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her seven children: Shane L. McKean and his wife, Vicky, of Snow Shoe, Tribly E. Mayes and her husband, Larry, of Snow Shoe, Lois L McKean and her companion, Tom, of Pleasant Gap, Erin A. Cramer of Clarence, Amy J. Haislet and her companion, Steve, of State College, Darren J. McKean of Clarence, and Jason V. McKean and his wife, Leila, of Virginia; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by three brothers: Robert Swartz of Luzerne, David Swartz of Snow Shoe, and Ken Swartz and his wife, Patricia, of Winburne.
Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers: James Swartz and Ronald Swartz, and two sisters: Lois Fanning and Beverly Swartz.
Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later time and will be announced. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Askey Cemetery.
