Mary L. Dutrow, 88, of Centre Hall, was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. Born on May 27, 1935, in Aaronsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Karl Hosterman and Grace Irene (Acker) Traxler. On August 2, 1957, in Aaronsburg, she married Lynn E. Dutrow. Her husband of 60 years preceded her in death in 2017.

Mary graduated in 1953, being the first class to graduate from Penns Valley Area High School. After high school, she worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone for 20 years, drove school bus for the Penns Valley School District for 20 years, and then retired after 17 years working as a Driver’s Examiner for PennDOT.

Mary enjoyed riding motorcycles in her youth. She attended St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall. She loved spending time with her family, attending public sales and buying antiques. She was a modern mom, such as listening to the latest music and working outside of the home, and she loved it. She enjoyed working at the Grange Fair over the years, taking payments for tenting spots and other various tasks. She was proud of her children and loved time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would often go to her grandchildren’s’ various events. She was an outspoken woman and you always knew where you stood with her. She was loved and cherished by her family and will live on in their memories.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen L. Yarger and her husband, Duane Jr., of Centre Hall and Karen L. Borza and her husband, Jim, of Benezette; five grandchildren, Jon Yarger and his significant other, Rebecca, Ian Yarger and his wife, Elizabeth, Alicia Kollar and her husband, Colin, Jamie Gordon and her husband, Matt, and Quincy Cunningham and her husband, Steve; nine great grandchildren, Max, Maelynn, and Jaclynn Cunningham, Hank, Ramona, and Greta Kollar, Charlie and Annalee Yarger, and Hartlyn Gordon; her brother, Russell Hosterman and his wife, Denise, of Aaronsburg; her sister, Kathleen Colyer of Albuquerque, NM; one brother in-law, Warren Dutrow of Beaver Springs; one sister in-law, Janet Dutrow of Mifflinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her step father, Albert “Muzzy” Traxler; her infant son, Kraig L. Dutrow in 1966; her brother, Thomas Hosterman; and her sisters, Ruby Glasgow and Carole Dickerson.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, all services will be held privately. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
