Mary Rose Michaluk, 73, of State College, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born September 26, 1950, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late John Winski and Lillian Wrobel Winski. On December 13, 1975 she married Walter K. Michaluk, who survives.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three sons, Aaron John Michaluk and his wife Selina of Titusville, NJ, Jesse Michaluk and his wife Janna of Easton, MD, and Nathaniel Steven Michaluk and his wife Alexandra of Lancaster, PA; two brothers, Michael Winski and his partner Dawn of Eastpointe, MI, and John Winski and his wife Audrey of Eastpointe, MI; and seven grandchildren: Sonja, Charlotte, Jax, Jordy, Nova, Maeve, and Roy Michaluk. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Winski.
Mary graduated summa cum laude from the University of Detroit in 1972, with a double major in Math and English and a focus on Elementary Education. She was immediately hired as a software engineer at General Motors in Detroit where she worked for four years advancing to a supervisory role. With the arrival of her first child, she then dedicated her time to raising a family. In addition to raising her three sons, Mary spent nearly twenty years as an early childhood and elementary educator at several schools in Pennsylvania.
With her kind and caring spirit, Mary found beauty and peace in nature and fun and excitement in music. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Mary enjoyed sharing her favorite hobbies — playing board games, exploring nature, and dancing to her favorite live bands – with those around her. To her family and friends, she was the epitome of all that a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend should be.
There will be a Celebration of Mary’s Life on Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 AM at Wyndham Gardens in Boalsburg. All are welcome.
