Melanie Joy Crowl, 47, of Pleasant Gap, died unexpectantly at her home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Born on July 14, 1974, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was the loving daughter of Jim and Pam Detrich of Bellefonte, and Melinda Franks of Ringgold, Georgia. Although her beautiful life started in Southeastern Tennessee, she lived most of her life in Bellefonte.
Melanie was a 1993 graduate of Centre County Christian Academy, where she enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, and cheerleading. Using her intuitive skills, fiery determination, and strong work ethic, she helped to build the family business, Nittany Professional Cleaning, and even started her own business, Diamond Shine Cleaning.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Chelsea, of Frankfort, Indiana, her sisters and brothers, Angela Gross (Chris) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, James Detrich (LeEtta) of Norman, Oklahoma, Shawn Detrich of Bellefonte, and Mandi Billett (Robert) of Zion. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Madison and Katelyn Gross, and Travis, Abigail, and Johnathan Billett.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James A. Detrich, Anna E. Detrich, Henry P. Johnson, and Dorothy A. Johnson.
Melanie truly exemplified her middle name – she made the world a brighter place. She was able to laugh and find humor in just about any situation. Melanie leaves her family and friends with countless memories that will be cherished forever. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life announcement will be made at a later date. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
