Agnes Wehner, 97, of Rochester, N.Y, beloved mother of Diane Gold Toulson, died peacefully at Unity Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth Wehner and sister Helene Renolds. Agnes is survived by her sister Isabelle Kast, of Peoria, Ariz; daughters, Diane Gold Toulson and husband Smith, of State College, Kathy Turner and husband Cordell, of Churchville, N.Y. and Fort Myers Beach, Fla. She was a loving grandmother of five children, Barbara Gold, of Madisonburg, Pa., Julia Gold of State College, Daniel Gold, of Portland, Ore., Brian Cady and wife Terry, of Rochester, N.Y., and Kristin Williams and husband Darryl, of Nashville, Tenn.
Agnes is also survived by her nieces Suzanne House and Judy Hansen, of Arizona, nephews David Kast ,of Arizona, and Mike Reynolds and children Sam and Kelly, of Colorado. Agnes was also a devoted great grandmother of eight children, Hannah Diane Harshbarger, of State College, Max Peter Gold Stachowski, of State College, Brian Jr., Victoria, and Troy Cady, of Rochester, N.Y., Claire and Carley Hensley, of Nashville, Tenn., and Ryan Swift, of Rochester N.Y.
Agnes Wehner was many things to many people, but is mostly remembered for her keen mind, wit, wisdom, and humorous approach to life. She was an avid bridge and crossword puzzle fan doing word jumbles and answering Jeopardy questions in her final days.
Agnes enjoyed traveling worldwide and spent her later years wintering in Florida. She was a talented musician and made sure her daughters had every opportunity and advantage available, paving the way for Diane to become a musician herself. She was a very strong presence of in all the lives that she touched and will be remembered fondly for her "take it in stride" approach to life. Agnes enjoyed every day to the fullest and appreciated all the gifts life had to offer.
We will have a Celebration of the life of Agnes Wehner Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship, 780 Waupelani Drive Ext. All are welcome to attend and share memories of this Scottish woman and her avid interests. A gathering to follow will be held at the home of granddaughter Julia Gold, 1226 S. Garner St., State College, PA.
