Aleta Mae Smith, 67, of Centre Hall, passed from this life on Friday, December 2, 2016 at her home. Born May 28, 1949 in Salamanca, NY, Aleta is a daughter of the late Charles and Martha “Fisher” Meyer. She was a graduate of the Salamanca High School and went on to attend cosmetology school. Aleta was employed at Penn State University in the Housing & Food Service Department, retiring with 20+ years of service.
Aleta was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smith Pletcher American Legion Post # 779 in Centre Hall. She loved crossword puzzles and her loving canine companion, Honey Bear. Above all she loved to spend time with her family.
Aleta is survived by her loving companion, Larry Young with whom she made her home; two sisters, Pamela Meyer of Little Valley, NY and Lori Meyer of Olean, NY; and one brother, Ronald Meyer of Bristol, TN. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Vesotski and Bonnie Leigy and one brother, Glen Meyer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Steven R. Neff Funeral home assisted the family with the arrangements. Contributions in memory of Aleta may be given to the Ladies Auxiliary of Smith Pletcher American Legion Post # 779, 2928 Penns Valley Pike, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
