Ann E. Charles, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, June, 3, 2010, at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
Born Aug. 28, 1921, in Williamsburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rosemarie Rodkey Riglin. On Aug. 10, 1946, she married James Clark Charles, who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2008. She attended Bellefonte Area School System. Ann worked in the Housekeeping Department at Penn State University retiring after 20 years of service.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, where she received the Award of Merit. She also enjoyed volunteering at the church. Ann loved her home and enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Ann is survived by two daughters, Roseann Witmer and her husband Jim, of Pocono Lake, Deborah Savage and her husband Stephen, of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, Jamie, Justin, and Brian Savage, all of Elizabethtown. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Confer; and two brothers, Michael and Anthony Riglin.
Visitation will be private and at the convenience of the family. The public is invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, June 7, 2010, at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte PA 16823. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service Inc. in Bellefonte.
