Anna M. Surovec, 96, of Clarence, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2010. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Clarence, on July 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Paul P. and Anna Kubista Ciprich, Sr. On November 26, 1934, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Clarence, she married Stephen M Surovec who passed away on August 8, 1960.

Anna attended the Cherry Run School. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Parish in Clarence, a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, a life member of the Clarence American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the National Slovak Society.

In her early life, Anna would take the train into New York City to work as a housekeeper. Once she and Stephen started their family, she was a stay at home mom. She made home a wonderful and safe place. She would cook and bake for her entire family, especially for the holidays. It was not a chore to her, it was a pleasure. To all that know her, Anna was known as Baba. Her passion in life was her family. She enjoyed attending church, playing bingo, playing cards, picking blueberries for her blueberry pies, and going to sporting events that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated.

Anna is survived by her three daughters; Betty A Koleno of Clarence, Patricia J Surovec at home, and Mary Jane Hall and her husband, Randall, of Snow Shoe, by her six sons; Steve M Surovec and his wife, Janet, of Richmond Heights, OH, George R Surovec and his wife, Connie, of Lakewood, OH, James P Surovec and his wife, Christine, of Pleasant Gap, Robert J Surovec and his wife, Connie, of Clarence, Dennis M Surovec and his wife, Denise, of Snow Shoe, and Ronald L Surovec and his wife, Christine, of Snow Shoe, by her sister, Pauline M Padisak of Clarence, and by her sister in-law, Barbara Ceprish of Clarence.
Also Surviving Anna are her 29 grandchildren; Stephen Surovec, his wife, Sue, Suzanne Elliot and her husband, Bruce, Randy Koleno and his wife, Chris, Brian Koleno and his wife, Sharlene, Lori Miller, Peter Koleno, Joseph Koleno and his wife, Michele, Chad Koleno and his wife, Allison, Becky Magnuson and her husband, Dave, Pam Lubowicz and her husband, Steve, Kim Roth and her husband, Jeff, Sherry Pirro and her husband, Ron, Bernadette Himmelberger and her husband, Darin, James Surovec II, Kristina Tice and her husband Doug, Dennis Zetts Jr and his wife, Jennifer, Andrew Zetts, Robert Surovec, Shawn Surovec and his fiancé, Kazia, David Surovec and his wife, Chanon, Cassandra Surovec and her fiancé Jeremy, Colleen Cingel and her husband, Tim, Rachel Hall, Travis Hall and his fiancé, Tina, Denny Surovec Jr and his wife, Erin, Jennifer Harris and her husband, Chris, Heather Surovec, Melissa Surovec, and Michael Surovec; and 47 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stephen, Abigail Surovec, Veronica and Mitchell Elliott, Richie Jr. Nikki, Josh, Kayla Miller, Justin and Jeffrey Koleno, Ben Koleno, Jarod and Olivia Koleno, David Magnuson Jr, Owen and Isabella Koleno, Marissa Lubowicz, Matthew, Jacob, Megan Roth, Marianna and Carsen Pirro, Ethan and Emily Himmelberger, Nathan and Madelyn Tice, Ashley, Luke, Christopher, Jesse, Jacob Zetts, Cole and Zoey Surovec, Sierra and Donovan Surovec, Madison and Alexander Surovec, Taylor, Anna, Maura Cingle, Noah Hall, Rylee and Trey Surovec, Morgan and Joel Harris, and by one great great-grandchild, Addisyn Miller.

Along with her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by; her daughter, Anna Mae Zetts, son in-law, Peter G Koleno, her grandchildren, Peter and Laverne Koleno, Mary, Joseph, and David Zetts, by her two great grandchildren; Daniel Miller and Zachary Tice, and by her grandson in-law Richard Miller. Also preceding in death were her three brothers, James, Paul and John, four stepbrothers; Steve, Mike, John, and Cyril Surovey, one sister, Mary Moore and one stepsister, Mary Krisch.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-9pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe, with a Rosary service at 8:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Parish in Clarence with Father Lubomir J Strecok officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
