Blaine L. Johnson, 83, Boalsburg, PA, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Wake County Medical Center, Raleigh, NC.
Born June 11, 1926, in Grand Valley, he was a son of the late Lee R. and Bess L. Sigworth Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the Pacific theater during World War II onboard the U.S.S. Alfred A. Cunningham, 1944-1946. After his naval service, Mr. Johnson married Wanda J. Lykens, Port Matilda in 1950 and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Mr. Johnson was employed by Penn State University for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Boalsburg, B.P.O. Elks Club and VFW post 5825 in Pine Grove Mills.
Mr. Johnson is survived by a daughter, Renee Grablow, Mims, FL and sons Lee Johnson, Allen, TX and Chet Johnson, Raleigh, NC, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, his parents Lee and Bess Johnson of Grand Valley, a brother Bruce Johnson of Tionesta, and a sister Eleanor Wright of Warren.
Friends will be received from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral & Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Monica Ouellette officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
